Time you enjoy wasting, is not time wasted…
I find myself saying this all the time nowadays but, “where is the time going?!”
I bumped into an old family friend who asked me how old Luke was the other day. She assumed he was coming up to 2. When I told her he was 8, soon to be 9 in February, she almost keeled over in astonishment.
It is a cliche, but time really is going so fast.
This year seems to have whizzed by, I almost cannot stomach getting into the festive spirit because in my head, it still feels like September. Sadly the songs being played in the local shops and the merchandise they are now stocking tell me otherwise and I suppose I can’t bury my head in the sand forever. I had better start Christmas shopping soon. Online shopping, you are my new best friend!
I always struggle with buying gifts for the men in my life. My Dad, my brother, my husband. Truth be told, if they want something, they normally just go and buy it. They don’t wait for a special occasion, and this makes Christmas and Birthday gift buying really tricky. Couple this with the fact my husband has EXTREMELY expensive taste (#delusionsofgrandeur) I can often feel completely bamboozled with gift ideas.
This year however, at least one of the men in my life is sorted for a gift, and that lucky person is my brother.
We are really close, always have been in fact, and he is a super Uncle to my 3 boys. He takes them out to places, he sometimes helps look after them if I need to pop out, he’s fun and the boys just generally love him.
As a little thank you, when I was approached by Jord Watches to review one of their gorgeous wooden timepieces, I instantly thought, “my brother would love one of these!”
So, that’s what I did. I ordered a watch that I loved the look of in the hopes he would love it too and it could double up as his Christmas gift from me. One gift down, many more to go!
Jord have an absolutely stunning range of Men’s and Women’s watches available on their website so I was pretty spoilt for choice when looking. In the end, I settled for this one, the Dover watch in Ebony and Copper (those that have seen my house know I have a bit of a copper fetish so this one was an instant hit with me!)
When it arrived, I was overwhelmed with how stunning it was. I know that sounds silly when talking about a watch, but the craftsmanship that has gone into making these unique timepieces is astounding. As soon as I opened the beautiful polished wood box, the first thing that hit me was the smell. It smelt of a forest, of wood and nature and I loved that about it. The packaging was lovely, the watch was sat upon a little hessian-like cushion and the watch itself glinted at me in the light…got to love that copper!
When I took the watch out of the box to look at it, I was struck by how light and smooth it was. It was too big for me but when I did put it on my wrist, it felt lovely and my husband tried it on and said it looked great. The back of this particular watch is transparent so you can see all the inner workings of it. This is probably my favourite feature of the watch to be honest. I am sure my husband thought I had gone crackers when I was just sat there staring at the watch ticking away! Simple things, eh!?
The watch is splash proof but shouldn’t be immersed under water for any length of time in order to keep it looking tip-top.
If you’re looking for a gift this Christmas that is both unique and thoughtful, I truly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend something from Jord wooden watches. I would happily receive one myself and I hope that my brother loves his present as much as I hope he will.
What do you guys think?
Would you wear a wooden watch?
