I could have posted a photo of one of the sorry excuses for a birthday cake I’ve attempted to make my kids, I could have posted a photo of some lovely patisserie cakes I bought the other day but, instead, I’ve chosen this as my photo of the day.

I took it yesterday and it shows a Friend of Thomas the Tank Engine, called Luke, covered in cake and the remains of a yellow fondant fancy by Mr Kipling (who apparently makes exceedingly good cakes – or not, according to my toddler who would rather smash it to smithereens…)
