Family fossil hunt…

Family day out in Lyme Regis summary…

Back hurts from a carrying a rucksack full of stones and fossils.

Bum hurts because we had a 4 hour drive home.

Head hurts because the toddler cried most of the way home whilst I was trying to drive and it’s in need of Gin.

Other than that, we had a lovely day…

(We did actually have a great time all jokes aside…but I’m not joking about the Gin. That’s now in my hand).

A Blue Plaque tribute to Mary Anning. What a woman.

Colourful cottages up a street in Lyme Regis. Very quaint.

‘Black Ven’ Stretching out between Charmouth and Lyme Regis. ‘THE’ beach to visit to collect fossils.

“Like the pages in a book, the rocks and the earth tell a story…” (Quote by me – how profound. Yes I’ve had Gin)

Nice bit of Thatching…

Ice cream in Winter at the British Seaside in wind and rain. Couldn’t be happier…

An almost perfect photo of all the men in my life. Once again, the toddler was non-conformist…

Lyme Regis Guildhall

The Lyme Regis Museum – Mary Anning’s house once stood here and now it is a museum in her memory…

The (almost) birthday boy was so strong he didnt need a hammer and could break the rocks with his fists. Grrrrr!!!!

“All look at me and say ‘Cheese!'” – Toddler: “Sod you Mum”.

The toddler found something that resembled a fossilised poo…how appropriate.

Paleontologists hard at work…

View from Charmouth car park…

In his own little world…

I love Lyme Regis, but I’ve never braved the weather there in February!

It was actually not too bad until 3pm when the weather closed in and the wind and rain picked up. Wasn’t too busy either which was nice. I’d like to go back in spring but stay for a few days.
Was lovely, we hadn’t been before.x

Looks like you had a lovely day. I’ve never been to Lyme Regis (actually I’m not really sure where it is) but it looks really pretty. Is it a well known place for fossil hunting or did you just get lucky? Xx

Dorset, just past Weymouth but before Devon on the south coast. It’s very well known, best beach in the UK for fossils. We found a few bits of ones and one really great one in 2.5hrs before the rain came, couldn’ve spent all day there!
Well worth a short break once the boys are into their Dino’s!xx

Ah it’s miles away from us, we’re up north! Maybe we could have a little holiday there when the boys are a bit older though xx
